Members Jango Edwards (netherlands)

Jango is a clown of immense size and gigantic proportions. He is an American from Detroit who lives in Holland. Despite his large dimensions, he is light- footed, agile, and hilariously funny. When Jango visited the Soviet Union for the first time in 1985, Polunin asked him not to strip naked. This would not have pleased the supervisory organizations. Jango stripped down to his underwear and was sent out of the country. He came back again in 1989 to attend the World Caravan festival. This time he stripped down to the last, portraying a Muslim woman. “Wouldn’t you know, he is naked, but not the least bit ashamed”, - exclaimed an elderly woman from Leningrad in the audience.

Jango Edwards is a famous buffoon and proud of it. He organized the Festival of Buffoons in America, at which he received the honorable title of King.

Jango performs his tricks on theater stages throughout the world. Edwards sings his own songs accompanied by an orchestra and tells such witty jokes that his humour is easily understood by the French, the Italians, and the Russians... in fact, anyone in the world who loves to laugh uninhibitedly and from the heart.

Jango, like any true clown, is a thinker and philosopher. For example, he believes:

“In order to have the right to tell people about themselves, you first have to know yourself. The clown should love everyone and everything, and this is the most difficult thing about buffoonery, it’s like trying to kiss a giraffe, you’ll never reach that high”;

“Buffoonery brings down any boundary. The only thing a happy-go-lucky person needs is freedom and honesty. If Russia becomes an honest land, all clowns will rush without fail to Russia, if America becomes such a land, they will rush to America»; «... the clown is the amalgamation of body and soul with a good-sized chunk of mystery and indecency thrown in”.

His hook-nosed face, just like a gutta-percha mask, is capable of stretching in incredible ways and folding into hilarious grimaces. And this virtuoso mimicry is full of lively, good-hearted feelings. His stoutish figure is amazing in its suppleness and agility. To be honest, you do not watch every ballet artist with the delight you do Edwards, as he prances and cavorts with the ease of a circus acrobat.
