Akop Kazantchian was born in Yerevan in 1959. In 19S2 he graduated fr om GITIS (workshop of A. Goncharov). From 1984-1988 he headed the Kafan State Drama Theatre, from 1988-1996 the Leninakan State Drama Theatre. Since 1997 he is artistic director and manager of the Erevan Theatre of the Young Spectator. He has directed: 'Letters from Substations of Youth’, ‘Antigone’, ‘Hamlet’, 'Brave Nazar', 'Clouds’ etc. He has participated in numerous international theatre festivals wh ere he has been awarded several prizes
The production is interesting because of its form, merging antiquity with modernity. Having made a projection of the ancient history of the dispute of truth and untruth as toid by Socrates and about the peripetias of modern parliament, the show at times simply scares with its associations to the present. The laconic evenness of the performance reminds us of a poster in which the simplicity of ideas and beauty of the form prevails, while the shrill sound of caution excites emotions with the confirmation of the invariance of human nature
