Contemporary Theatre in the Post-Soviet Space: What Unites Us and What Distinguishes Us
Alla Shenderova is a theatre critic, lecturer, and curator. She is a freelance columnist for the Kommersant newspaper. She graduated from the Russian State University for the Humanities (Faculty of Informatics) and GITIS (Faculty of Theatre Studies). She is the author of numerous articles in professional and socio-political publications on the problems of contemporary theatre. She lectures at the British Higher School of Art and Design (History of Contemporary Theatre course), is a member of the International Association of Theatre Critics (IATC), and an expert at the Youth Theatre Forum of the CIS countries and Georgia. She curated the "Friendship of Peoples" program at the "Inspiration" festival (VDNKh, Moscow-2019). As a performer, she participated in Vsevolod Lisovsky's project "One Hundred Days" ("Persephone" project) and the performance-journey "Through No. 2" ("Trees Among People" performance). She is the author of an intensive course of lectures and seminars "Then and Now: Where Contemporary Theatre Comes From and Where It Is Going" (Manege, 2019). She also created the seminar-laboratory "Theatre During Social Upheavals" (Minsk, TeART Festival, October 2020).

In a changing geopolitical situation, it is especially important to maintain cultural ties, exchange experiences, and simply understand each other.
The lecture will examine the current theatrical processes in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Armenia, Belarus, Russia, and other countries. It will focus on recent cross-disciplinary and international projects, as well as the related problems and advantages.
