Victor Goulchenko, graduate of the Schukin Theatre School, Directors' Department and the Higher State Cinematography Institute (VGIK), Screenplay Department. Director, theatre and movie critic. Member of the Chekhov Commission of the Russian Academy of Sciences, author of series of works on Chekhov. His productions realized in Russian theatres include The Cherry Orchard and The Darling by A. Chekhov, Our town by T. Whilder, Scenes of Conjugal Life by I. Bergman, The Gin Game by D. Coburn; in the Pushkin Theatre (Moscow) - A Warsaw Melody by L. Zorin, Moscow People after V. Gilyarovsky; 0, les Beaux Jours by S. Beckett (the «Modern» Theatre), etc.
The State Theatre of Nations, founded in 1987, is a national non-profit theatre center designed to solve the problem of preserving the common cultural space of Russia and the newly independent states by way of developing and supporting regional achievements in dramatic art and by creative interaction between theatres from Russia and abroad. Productions realized at this theatre include Two Steps from The End of the World by G. Mamlin (in collaboration with the Stage-I theatre, directed by P. Goldberg), A Walk In the Woods by L. Blessing (in collaboration with the Yale Repertory Theatre, directed by D. Macanuff), Pauline... Pauline... by R. Angebo (in collaboration with the Vivant theater directed by 0. Kudryashov), Farewell, BDT! by V. Retsepter (directed by Y. Aksyonov).
