Against the backdrop of Russian winter on the stage of Mayakovsky theatre the most famous Pushkin’s story is performed by young actors, almost the same age as the heroes. Their youth and the author's self-irony transform the "encyclopedia of Russian life" into a sincere poetic theatre, where poetry is not a form of text, but a way of life. Fortune telling with folk songs, name days, a winter road, dances at the ball – all this does not arise as omens of old times, but comes to life in a modern interpretation.
