Silence Teatro is in many aspects an intellectual theatre. It tries to animate his­toric epochs, make them visible and tangible. To understand a simple, anonymous beforetime man, means to have a deeper insight into the mankind as a whole. Why are understanding and insight possible? Firstly, through a special technique of release, liberation of the body which gives opportunity to feel another man. On the other hand, every epoch creates its own model of space. Thus, to recreate an epoch it is necessary, in the first place, to reconstruct the space.

Middle Ages attract Silence Teatro most of all, as it was the epoch of mysticism, moral strictures and self-humiliation of a man that gradually gave birth to new relationships and new view of the world. The performance «FIGURAAZIONE» that made the theatre famous consists of essays on Middle Ages. Actors playing their roles combine expressive graphics of body movements and concise statics of sculpture. Hear heroes are like animated sculpture arrangements. There is no plot as such - there are separate scenes: some ritual dinner in a retarded, as if eternal, rhythm; potter forming a jar of clay, milling of grains, declaration of love in a castle... The performance is made in black and white, the color has a symbolic meaning: white is a symbol of expression, black - of restraint.

In its works Silence Teatro seeks a silent dialogue of the city space and of the theatre, of an actor and a spectator of one epoch and another. Complete silence (the music is never used) and extreme concentration, sculptural elegance and living heartbeat - this is how the performances of Silence Teatro are born and live.
