Studio of Individual Directing (MIR), Moscow, Russia

The mystery project “Garden”, the 8th regeneration. This production shows the new evolutionary stage of the project. It tells as well about the 10-year period of the history of the project in Moscow, within the framework of the Studio of Individual Directing (MIR), with workshop, video screening and stories of participants.

Boris Yukhananov (born 1957) - Director, artistic director of the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre. He graduated fr om the Russian Academy of Theatre Art as theatre director (Masters of the course: Anatoly Efros and Anatoly Vasilyev) in 1986. He was an assistant to Efros on staging Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” (1983) and assisted to Anatoly Vasilyev on his "Serso" (1983-1985) based on the play of Viktor Slavkin.

The creator of one of the first independent theatre company in the USSR “Theatre Theatre” (1985). In 1988, he founded the Studio of Individual Directing (MIR). The purpose of this independent educational organisation is to teach directing as a universal profession. Its most famous work is "Garden" (1990-2001), a constantly developing theatre project based on the play by Chekhov "Cherry Orchard". It was played at the Michael Chekhov Festival in London in 1994 and at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh in 1995.

In 2013, Boris Yukhananov became the head of the former Moscow Stanislavsky Drama Theatre, which after one season turned into Stanislavsky Electrotheatre - one of the most notable sites in Moscow, wh ere Theodoros Terzopoulos, Romeo Castellucci, Heiner Göbbels and other masters of the theatre made their productions. New for the Russian theatre are the so called “new procedural” projects: "Golden Ass. Open working space" which lasts 5 days and "Orfian games. Punk-macrame" lasting 6 days.
