In this production of "Hamlet" the play itself is the starting point, the dramaturgical absolute. The setting is not Elsinore, but the theatre space. The story lines of the play are intertwined with the story of the contradictions in creative searches of masters of the stage. The characters remind both the heroes of Shakespeare's play and the performers in the famous "Hamlet" on stage of the Moscow Art Theatre directed by Gordon Craig together with the theatre's founding fathers. Shakespeare's text plays the role of a structure that comments on what is happening on stage and helps to direct attention. All the heroes and events are symbolically connected and exist as distorted reflections of each other.
