Music by N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, Maurice Ravel, Arabic folk music
Caracalla Dance Theatre is the leading contemporary dance company in the Middle East. Its founder Abdel Halim Caracalla created a unique dance style, combining the traditions of Eastern folk dance with the pathbreaking techniques of Martha Graham. The famous troupe has staged more than twenty large-scale dance productions and musicals performing them in the most prestigious halls around the world.
Perhaps,
“One Thousand and One Nights” most vividly reveals the unique artistic style of
the Caracalla Theatre. The enchanting melodies of “Scheherazade” by
Rimsky-Korsakov and “Bolero” by Ravel, which are intertwined with the sounds of
the sitar and Persian tar, the sensual movements and dizzying jumps of the
spirited young dancers, flamboyant costumes and luxurious scenery transport the
viewer into the authentic atmosphere of the fabulous fairy-tale East.
