Questio Diabolica

Questio Diabolica – The Diabolical Question. There is great temp­tation to believe in the power of the devil and to betray one’s dreams. The hero of this Russian-German play is faced with the decision of who runs the world, thus the Latin phrase of the title. The joke suicide of the Actor turns out to be far from a joke. The servants of the kingdom of darkness are quick to pursue this confused soul.

But selling one’s soul to the devil is a decision that one can only make for oneself. And so, demons tempt him with promises of a wonderfully happy and reckless life...

Despite the seriousness of the question, everything in this show is funny, joyful, light and ironic. The attendants of hell are like carnival demons - buffoons and jok­ers. And the Actor enters with pleasure into his duel with the devil. The only question is how the duel will end...

The show is created in conjunction with the actors of the German Alarm!Theater and Russian actors, director and designers. The heads of the German theater, the acting duo of Ditlind Budde and Harald Otto Shmidt, were formerly members of the famous Italian Nucleo street theater, which has tremendous experience in this genre.

However, to create their own first, independent street performance, they invited their colleagues from Russia: director Yuri Berladin, designer Teodor Tezhik and costume designer Raf Sardarov, as well as many Russian actors. Created one year ago, the show has toured successfully in many countries in eastern and western Europe.
