At first, Boom was just a wandering theater on wheels, travelling more than a few roads between cities and villages. Then it grew up a bit and became a theater rafts then a theater on mustangs. But that’s not it. The street always demanded metamorphosis from Boom, and the theater didn’t hold back, alternating from a ‘theater in buses’ to a ‘theater on fire’, to a ‘theater in a balloon’. Thus, Boom has existed for 21 years!
Any of the street actions of Alexander Kalashnikov are filled with expressive, explosive direction, in the form of a primitive show or a folk performance.
“А spectacle, especially on the street, must be infectious, just like any form of art. It needs to unite people, infect them with joyful energy and optimism and, of course, surprise them”, - says Alexander Kalashnikov.
Thе show Scarlet Sails is a romantic fantasy on the water. The powers of nature water, wind, fire, stars, space – are the heroes in Boom’s shows. The action of the show takes place on six rafts.
The usual physical quality of rafts – movement – is transformed by the director into a powerful expressive resource, a significant element of this night spectacle on the water. The theater preserves the secret to the movement of the rafts. Their mysterious swimming creates a magical fairy tale atmosphere. The sea battles, small and large, the appearance of fantastic live creatures from the depths of the waters (which includes a group of professional synchronized swimmers), unbelievable pyrotechnics – all of this is part of the director’s rich imagination. And yet, it all exists not for the purpose of demonstrating tricks, but to affirm human values: the human ability to wait, to love, to believe, to dream.

The show surprises with its creativity. With the strength of the director’s and designer’s fantasy, simple rafts are transformed into a ship or an island or a castle or a pirate galleon right in front of the eyes of a stunned audience. The flood of transformations of these rafts concludes with the fantastic appearance of the Scarlet Sails from the water, slowly lighting up the whole mass of water with a uniquely bright, strong, and magical light.
