Snow show

Slava Polunin is the best clown of the world...His unmissable and already classic 'Snowshow’ is a thing of rare theatrical beauty.
The Times

There’s almost no corner of the world that hasn’t delighted in this show, not laughed and nod cried at the whimsical and tender world of Polunin’s show.

Polunin was born in the small city of Novosil in the Orlov region in 1950.

In 1968, he created his first performance in Leningrad. In 1979, his studio became a professional theater called Litsedei, whose shows had great effect on the whole cc untry and surroundings. In 1982, he gathered together all of the existing mime gr oups in the country at the time to present the mind boggling «Mime Parade.»

In 1985, as part of the workshop for mime and clowning of the International Festival

of Youth and Students in Moscow, he showed a stunned Moscow audience the wild

artists fr om the West. That first appearance on local stages was unforgettable, both to the viewers and the actors alike. In 1987, he took all Russian mimes and clowns to an uninhabited island in the Gulf of Finland, where he conducted his first street festival, «Litsedei-Litsei.»

In 1988, his light touch marked the first all-Russian Congress of Fools, where it was ficcepted practice to engage in especially refined bureaucratic processes: to go to the bathroom, one had to get a stamped permission from the snack bar.

In 1989, at the «Caravan of the World» he was the ideologist and participant of the first international festival of street theaters in the USSR, which had its start in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Then, Polunin and his ciown-mime theater Joined a caravan of European street comedy troupes and traveled around Europe for six months.

In 1992, he opened an Academy of Fools in Moscow and Leningrad, gathering the signatures of the most respected and famous citizens of Russia, who fought hard for the title of Total Fool, and were sincerely upset if they were only called Half-Fools.

In 1993, he decided to pay special attention to the weaker sense and organized a festival called «Broads are Fools» which gathered together women clowns from all over the world.

...And now comes the next grandiose project, unbelievable in the scope of its fantasy: the program, «Street Theaters of the World,» which will transform Moscow into an open city, a podium without borders. At last, the show that won the Laurence Olivier award in London as Best Show, the Triumph prize in Russia, the Helpmann Award in Australia for Best Visual Theater, and that was nominated to open the Olympic games in Sydney, will be seen in Moscow. The only time that «SNOW- SHOW» played in the Russian capital was a year ago. Asisyai the clown only came briefly to the country wh ere he hadn’t performed for seven years, and realized that ha is loved here.
