The Brothers Zenith

He is called a genius of the French comic theater. He misses the luxury and folk spark of the circus stage and he is depressed by the rotten banality of life. Jerome Deschamps understands that the surrounding world has hopelessly sunken into vul­garity and cannot be changed. Thus, he created his own world, his own universe of comicality and absurdity, real illusions and words that come to life. He inhabits this world with people condemned to being lonely in a crowd, filled it with strange noises, and packed it with old trash.

Everything that finds its way into the Deschamps universe, whether a thing or a person or a play - loses its usual characteristics, frees itself from the laws of the world. «Unceremonious invasion of the classics» was what the press had to say of Deschamps’ versions of Moliere’s «Affected Young Ladies» and «Rabbit - Hunter». The shows were a great success.
