The Et Cetera company was formed of the 1990 graduates of Alexander Kaliagin's class at the Moscow Art Theatre School. Kaliagin became it Artistic Director. The Et Cetera is a repertory theatre open to 'outside' talents. The theatre opened in 1993 with a production of Uncle Vanya. After five years of forced 'vagrancy' and homelessness, the Et Cetera found a home on New Arbat, in a former conference-hall of an administrative building. On September 26th, 1997, the theatre presented a new production: The Dark Lady of the Sonnets by George Bernard Shaw.

Roman Kozak, actor and director, was born in 1957. He was trained at the Moscow Art Theatre School (Oleg Yefremov's class), and has worked as artistic director with a number of Moscow companies (from 1985 - drama studio 'Man', from 1989 - The Fifth Studio of the Moscow Art Theatre, from 1990-91 - the Stanislavsky Drama Theatre). In 1995 Kozak returned to the Moscow Art Theatre, first as a director, and later also as a teacher at its drama school
