Three evenings with Declan Donnellan – a unique online project of the Chekhov festival

The Chekhov Festival is pleased to present the unique online project “Three Evenings with Declan Donnellan”. For three evenings in a row we will show the performances of the famous British director, created with the support of the Chekhov festival with Russian actors.
Some records were created 20 years ago and were not meant for public viewing.
It’s a miracle that they survived and are now available to viewers.
In anticipation of the shows, the authors of these productions – Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod – addressed Russian viewers with words of support.

“We thought you might like to see these recordings in these difficult and strange days.
This footage was never meant to be broadcasted or shown to general audience and was recorded for archival purposes.
For example, to help rehearse in actors who may have needed to be replaced.
But we have decided to make an exception and open these archives to public.
Till we can all be again in the same space together and hear each other breathe again, here are some "forensic" traces of once live theatre – you will need a lot of imagination to resurrect it!
And you may even be able to make a little live again for yourselves".
