17th International Chekhov Theatre Festival comes to a close
For two months, Russian audiences have been delighted by the vibrant and unconventional productions of representatives from 12 countries around the world: South Africa, Argentina, Colombia, Iran, France, Kazakhstan, Brazil, China, India, Armenia, and – for the first time – Bahrain and Lebanon. The Festival also featured an extensive Educational Programme, which included a series of lectures, masterclasses, meet‑the‑artist sessions, and the Laboratory for Young Directors from the CIS Countries and Georgia. Thanks to the Festival's Regional Programme, several productions were seen by audiences in Voronezh, Yekaterinburg and Kazan. The Moscow Programme offered Festival participants a closer look at contemporary Russian theatre. A particular highlight of this year's Festival was the joint project of the Sosa Sargsyan State Theatre "Amazgain" (Armenia), the International Chekhov Theatre Festival and director Simon Abkarian (France) – the world premiere of "Penelope".

Yet the most important element remains the emotions of the audiences and guests of the Festival. The performances, excursions, lectures and encounters offered everyone the opportunity and joy of connection – an impulse that will inspire new beginnings. We thank every single member of our audience, who attended the performances with genuine trepidation and excitement; our participants, for their willingness to share their art; and, of course, our friends and partners, who supported us throughout the Festival.

We are confident that the theatrical mosaic of the next Festival will be no less bright and impressive. In the meantime, our hearts will be warmed by the memories. We look forward to seeing you again in 2027!
