Colombian production of "No One Writes to the Colonel" presented at Chekhov Festival
On 4 June, 2025 the Chekhov Festival presented the first performance of "No One Writes to the Colonel", a production by the Delia Zapata Olivella National Centre for the Arts and the People's Theatre Workshop (Colombia). The production is directed by Jorge Alí Triana, a figure well known far beyond Latin America. In his work, stagings of works by Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez hold a special place. This comes as no surprise: Triana was a close friend of the writer and worked with him on theatrical adaptations.
The performance was attended by H.E. Héctor Isidro Arenas Neira, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Colombia to Russia, as well as heads of other diplomatic missions from several Latin American countries.
The performances are timed to coincide with the 90th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Colombia.
