The opening of the 17th International Chekhov Theatre Festival was presented at the State Kremlin Palace. The audience saw the long-awaited glorious performance "Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape" by the Oriental Performing Arts Group from China.
The opening of the festival was attended by Alexey Fursin, Head of the Moscow Department of Culture, Zhang Hanhui, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Russia, Hector Isidro Arenas Neira, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Colombia to Russia, famous theater directors, journalists and other VIP guests.
The festival will run until July 25. The World Series program features 13 performances from 12 countries. The festival also includes the Moscow and Educational programs. The regional program will be held in Voronezh, Kazan, and Yekaterinburg. On June 9, a street photo exhibition titled "Theatrical Art of the BRICS Countries as Part of the Chekhov Festival" will open on Arbat-Street in Moscow.
