On April 16, 2026 at 12:00, the TASS Press Centre will host a press conference dedicated to the announcement of the programme of the 4th International Pacific Theatre Festival, which will take place in Vladivostok from 18 September to 11 October 2026.
The press conference will feature addresses from Festival participants and organisers, as well as heads of embassies whose countries are represented in the Festival programme:
Evgeny Mironov – Head of the Programme for the Development of Theatre Arts in the Far East, Artistic Director of the State Theatre of Nations, People's Artist of the Russian Federation;

H.E. Eduardo Villegas Mejías – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico to the Russian Federation;

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The International Pacific Theatre Festival takes place in a unique location where Western culture "meets" the East. Among its key objectives is to help establish Vladivostok as one of the cultural capitals of the region and of Russia.
The Pacific Festival is a significant, large‑scale event within the state Programme for the Development of Theatre Arts in the Far East, launched in 2019. The initiative came from the State Theatre of Nations and its Artistic Director, Evgeny Mironov. The project was supported by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. The creative concept was developed by Valery Shadrin, who for thirty years headed the International Chekhov Theatre Festival. Its core mission is educational – enabling audiences, without leaving Primorye, to engage with the diverse cultural palette of the Pacific region and to encounter distinctive theatre practitioners from around the world.
The first Festival was organised and held under the difficult conditions of the pandemic. Despite this, participants from Argentina, Armenia, Georgia, Spain, Switzerland, South Korea and Japan came to the capital of Primorye. The results showed incredible success – tickets sold out within days, and Festival events were attended by over 12,000 spectators.
The second Pacific Festival was dedicated to the memory of V.I. Shadrin, who passed away in December 2022. The programme he had prepared was successfully realised by the organisers. Despite new challenges, a rich and engaging programme was assembled, featuring companies from Brazil, Vietnam, China, Cuba, South Africa and other countries. Audience numbers exceeded 18,000.
The third Festival took place in autumn 2024, once again confirming Vladivostok's status as a point of international cultural attraction. The programme brought together productions from Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, India, Russia, Japan and China. For the first time, the Festival featured an open‑air performance: Japanese drummers performed on the city's main square. Total audience numbers exceeded 26,000.
The fourth Pacific Festival in Vladivostok will take place from 18 September to 11 October 2026. The Festival will once again affirm Primorye's status as a centre of cultural tourism, combining contemporary theatre with the unique atmosphere of the Pacific coast. Despite current challenges, the project is expanding international cooperation: the programme features 13 productions, including performances by companies from Kazakhstan, Colombia, Malaysia, Mongolia and Mexico.
A key event will be the Festival's first co‑production – "Uncle Vanya" , based on Chekhov's play, created by a Brazilian creative team (director Ada Luana) together with the Primorye Regional Youth Theatre. The premiere will take place during the Festival.
A gift to residents and visitors will be the expansion of the Festival space beyond theatre venues. An open‑air performance will take place at a new Festival location – one of Vladivostok's most popular promenade areas, the Sports Harbour embankment – bringing theatre out to the city, the ocean and the people, making art accessible and open to everyone. The venue and time are preliminary and subject to confirmation.
Audiences can also look forward to educational events – masterclasses, the popular post‑performance discussions, a creative laboratory, and intensive workshops for students of the Far Eastern State Institute of Arts.
Over the years, the International Pacific Theatre Festival has built its own audience and become a much‑anticipated event in the region. Its mission remains to continue introducing audiences to the diversity of contemporary theatre art, while helping to strengthen Russia's image as a country open to the further development of international cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The Pacific Festival in Vladivostok sees this as its purpose.
