Dmitry Bertman
Born in 1967 in Moscow,
graduate of the Lunacharsky State Institute of Dramatic Art (GITIS), Musical Theatre Department (class of G. P. Anisimov, 1989). During the course of study produced plays in the professional theatres of Moscow, Tver, Syktyvkar and Odessa. Finished a post-graduate training course at the GITIS and Eli abethbuehne (Salzburg, Austria). Founder of the Helikon-Opera theatre (1990). Productions: The Ugly Duckling by S. Prokofiev, The Human Voice by F. Poulenc, Apollo and Hyacinth by W.A. Mozart, La Traviata and Aida by J. Verdi, The Rake's Progress by I. Stravinsky, Eugene Onegin, The Queen of Spades, and Undine by P. Tchaikovsky, The Czar’s Bride, and Mozart and Salieri by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, etc. Bertman is teaching a course of musical theatre direction at the Russian Academy of Dramatic Art (GITIS) since 1996.
